G’day gang, Ernie here.

I thought I’d better pop me head up and say G’day, you know introduce me self and let you know what’s going on with Ripping Yarns from History. First of all, thanks for taking an interest and having a listen. You may be thinking its a bit of an odd time to be making introductions, eleven episodes in an all, but that’s all right, no worries.…

Here in Australia a story is called a yarn, if it's a particularly good story, then we say its a Ripping yarn. If ever you were a fan of story time a as kid, then I think you’re gonna love Ripping Yarns from History. And, if you’ve been listening, you may have noticed by now, that Ripping Yarns from History is a little bit different from other history podcasts, and that’s exactly the way I want it to be.

Anyhow, Im about to embark on season two, and I thought id better let you all know how I got to where we are now.

You see, it all started back in 2014 when I decided to record a one off episode, just to see if I could do it, I figured I could make, well, a ten minute episode and see what it sounded like.

Fair Dinkum, before I knew it I was 35 minutes in to what you now know as The Charge of the Light Brigade.

Well I poked around for a little bit after that, and came up with The Indian Mutiny (The first war for independence) which once again, ended up being a tad longer than planned. Then in 2015, I began work on The Eureka Stockade which as you might have guessed, was even longer again.

It was a year later that I decided to experiment with shorter yarns and aimed for ten minute episodes, which worked out quite well all being said.

Anyhow, I didn’t have any way to share these yarns with the big wide world until I discovered Buzzsprout. Crikey, it solved all me problems with hosting, and  now I’m ready to get stuck in to making even more Ripping Yarns from History.

I reckon I'll aim for  a new episode every 4 to 6 weeks. Now remember, these are hand crafted, and craftsmanship takes a little time. Think of em as little gems that’ll drop in to your podcast app from time to time. No need to worry about missing an episode, or trying to keep up with a storyline, every episode is a stand alone yarn. So,  just subscribe, relax and i'll do all the rest.

Oh, and another thing, history can be a little bit gruesome at times, and you got to expect that, but, you’ll never hear me utter any profanities, so you can be sure, that it's alright for young folk to listen in.

Now some of you may want to stay in touch, so I’ve set up me own webpage www.rippingyarnsfromhistory.com While yer there, if you reckon me yarns are worth their salt, you may want to show your support by shouting me a cuppa. That’d be beaut.

Anyhow, Good on ya, Theres plenty O’ Ripping Yarns from History ahead, so I’d better get cracking.

Hooray!
